Firework Championships Date Changes

Following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II there will be some changes to the planned dates for the Firework Championships in Blackpool.

The first of the World Fireworks events which was originally planned on the night of Saturday 17 September has now been moved because of the proximity to the State funeral. It will be rescheduled to October half-term. This means the revised dates for the four firework events are:

    Saturday 1 October

    Saturday 15 October

    Thursday 27 October

    Friday 28 October

What time do the fireworks start?

The event officially begins at 7.30pm, but the displays aren't scheduled to start until 8.30pm. To get the best views, organisers recommend arriving early.

    Where are the championships?

Fireworks are fired over the sea in front of the Tower. There’s a perfect viewing arena at Tower Festival Headland on the promenade, but you can watch the championships from anywhere along the seafront and from north to south and at North Pier.

    How much does it cost?

All of the displays are free to access.

    Where can I park?

Due to the popularity of the World Fireworks Championship Blackpool, there may be traffic delays arriving and leaving the event. Organisers have advised to take extra time to arrive and we have recommended if travelling by car to park in the southern car parks and use the tramway to travel to the event.

You can find more information on parking in Blackpool here.

    Are roads closed?

There are no road closures planned, but drivers have been warned to expect very busy roads, especially along the promenade.

    What trams will be running?

Tram services will be running as planned. The last tram from North Pier to Fleetwood is at 11.32pm. The last train from North Pier to Starr Gate is at 12.37am.

    What about trains?

The nearest train station is Blackpool North. The last train back to Preston from this station is at 11.07pm.

    What busses will be running?

The following services can be used to get to North Pier or at least close to the pier: 1, 5, 6, 7, 11, 17
