St Annes International Kite Festival makes a return at the end of this week and continues throughout the weekend.
The annual event attracts thousands to the St Annes seafront every year to show off the weird and wonderful kite designs over a weekend jam-packed weekend.
Over the weekend there will be five different kite flying areas, one of them will be outside the dog control area so our furry friends won’t be missing out.
The thrills don’t stop there as there will be an illuminated kite flying session on the evening of Friday, August 29, where the night sky will be filled with thousands of kites and lights of every description.
There will also be a fairground on the beach as well as refreshment stalls. Joined by kite teams from across the UK and beyond, the event is a unique partnership between Fylde Council and kite fliers SmileFactor10 with ongoing support from St Annes Town Council.
Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, added: “The Kite Festival is one of the busiest weekends of the year for our town, and we are delighted to welcome SmileFactor10 back to work with us to deliver another spectacular event to showcase the vibrant spirit of St Annes.”
Craig Harby of SmileFactor10 expressed his enthusiasm: “We’re absolutely delighted to be back in St Annes for another great event, having built this into the UK’s largest and most successful kite festival. We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from Fylde Council and the local businesses that continue to embrace the festival each year.”
