The RSPCA is appealing for information after reports that a dog was seen to be punched and slapped in a street in Blackpool.
The animal charity is investigating after a member of the public reported the incident on a boxer type dog in Waterloo Road just before 4pm on Monday, 23rd September.
A man was seen yanking the dog he had on a lead away from another dog before reportedly punching and slapping the dog between two parked cars. He walked off with the canine from the location near to the Cash Convertors and Cash Generator shops.
RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) Mike Man said: “This incident took place in a busy retail area of Blackpool not far from Blackpool South Station and the Promenade so it is likely it was seen by a number of people. I am keen to trace the dog and check on the pet’s wellbeing”
The RSPCA has released footage captured by local CCTV cameras of a man who was in the area at the time who may be able to help provide information to assist the animal charity’s enquiries.
The man is of medium build and he was wearing jeans and a hooded top.
Anyone who has any information about the dog or his owner is asked to contact the RSPCA appeal line number on 0300 123 8018, referencing incident number 01358312.
