A significant fire broke out last night at a derelict building on Wilton Parade in Blackpool, prompting a substantial response from the Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service.
The incident began around teatime on Monday, 27th January 2025, at the Strand Lodge, located next to the famous Imperial Hotel.
Dixon Road was closed as the fire service deployed eight fire engines and two aerial ladder platforms to combat the blaze. Residents in the vicinity were advised to keep their windows and doors shut due to the smoke and to avoid the area because of road closures.
By 21:00, the fire was reported to be under control, and plans were made to reduce the number of fire engines at the scene. However, a presence was maintained throughout the night, with local roads remaining closed. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
No injuries have been reported at this time. Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
