A man was arrested after a vehicle travelled the wrong way on the M55.
On Sunday evening (28th January 2024), Blackpool’s Roads Policing officers were joining junction 4 Eastbound of the M55 and were met with a vehicle driving the wrong way on the motorway.
Officers brought the car to a stop safely, and a 39-year-old man from Preston, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after giving a reading of 84mg at the roadside, which is nearly three times the legal limit of 35mg.
He has been bailed until May 2024 and the vehicle was seized.
Officers also discovered that there were three adult passengers and four unrestrained young children inside the vehicle.
All passengers were driven to a place of safety off the motorway and all welfare and appropriate child referral agency needs have been put in place.
