Visitors to Fairhaven Lake can look forward to a new visitor centre after Fylde Council approved plans to transform the iconic Pagoda building.
The beautiful heritage building, which became available when the RSPB relocated earlier this year, will undergo a £25,000 conversion to create a vibrant space offering retail, catering, education facilities and ticket sales. Work will begin later this year, bringing this much-loved landmark back into active use for the whole community to enjoy.
The new visitor centre will provide a warm, inviting space where families can grab refreshments, pick up information about the lake’s activities and purchase tickets for upcoming events. A range of high-quality Fairhaven souvenirs will be available, alongside RSPB branded products including garden bird feed, ensuring visitors can continue to purchase their favourite items. The centre will also retain the park’s interactive timeline, a fantastic educational resource that brings Fairhaven’s rich history to life.
The transformation represents excellent value for money, with the Fairhaven operational team relocating to the Pagoda. The new visitor centre will provide fresh income streams for the lake, with revenue reinvested back into the park to benefit the local community.
Councillor Jayne Nixon, Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure and Culture, said: “This is wonderful news for all visitors and residents of Fylde. The Pagoda is such a special building with so much character and transforming it into a proper visitor centre will really enhance the experience for all who visit. It’s going to become a real focal point where people can meet, learn about our beautiful lake and make the most of everything Fairhaven has to offer.”
The visitor centre is expected to open its doors to the public in Spring 2026, adding another exciting chapter to Fairhaven Lake’s story as one of Fylde’s premier destinations.
