A former French polishers and upholstery business in Carleton could become a new microbar if the scheme gets the go ahead.
The H Wood shop was established for many years and has been a familiar sight in the corner site opposite the Castle Gardens pub, at the junction of Poulton Road and Blackpool Road.
But now, a full planning application has been submitted to Wyre Council for a proposed change of use of commercial premises at 2A Blackpool Road to a drinking establishment (Sui Generis).
These proposals include the creation of a rear extension, to form toilets, cellar and ancillary kitchen.
A Planning Statement is submitted in support of the application stated: “This statement supports the Change of Use of a single-storey property and external alterations to include replacement ground floor front facing fenestration and single-storey rear extension.
“The use of an existing property in a sustainable location is the ideal choice for this type of development. The reuse of the existing building without undue alterations and extensions is sustainable in its nature and therefore accords with the local planning policies.”
The application does not include a design statement and gives few other details of the proposed plans.
The proposals come just as another new bar has opened nextdoor, after successful applictions to Wyre Council.
New cafe bar Gilberts opened on Thursday in the former Wellbeing Centre, previously known as Carleton Practice premises at 9 Castle Gardens Crescent.
