Local people are being invited to share their views on how the vision and opportunities behind Multiversity are communicated as the landmark £65 million development continues to take shape in the heart of Blackpool town centre.
Blackpool and The Fylde College is today launching its Multiversity Engagement Survey for residents, employers, community organisations and anyone with an interest in Blackpool’s future.
Construction began earlier this year on the project, which combines a landmark new building with an ambitious new approach to higher education.
The short survey will help refine how the vision and opportunities behind Multiversity are explained and communicated as the project moves towards its scheduled opening in September 2028.
Multiversity is being deliberately designed around the realities of learners’ lives, with strong links to careers, progression and employers. It aims to open up access to degree-level learning, develop the higher-level skills that employers need and play a significant role in Blackpool’s wider economic regeneration.
The College, now part of the B&FC Group, wants to understand which aspects of Multiversity resonate most strongly with people, what they want to know more about and where greater clarity may be needed.
The survey findings will help refine how Multiversity, its opportunities and its distinctive approach to higher education are presented and communicated to different audiences.
First impressions and honest feedback are particularly valuable – and survey participants can also choose to enter a prize draw to win one of five £100 Amazon vouchers.
Alun Francis, Chief Executive of B&FC Group, said: “Multiversity is all about creating opportunities: for people who might never previously have considered higher education, for employers who need higher-level skills and for Blackpool as it continues to build a stronger economy for the future.”
“This is a £65 million investment in the town, but its importance goes far beyond a new building. We want Multiversity to make higher education work for more people and create clear routes into successful careers on their doorstep and beyond.
“That is why we want to hear from the people, employers and communities it is being created to serve. You don’t need to be an expert on higher education or know very much about Multiversity – we just want your first impressions and your views.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in Blackpool’s future to take a few minutes to tell us what they think.”
The Multiversity Engagement Survey takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete and is available at: www.blackpool.ac.uk/MVSurvey
