In a heartwarming gesture of community spirit, local travel agent Ryan Anthoney, owner of Geggs Getaways, has gone above and beyond to spread festive cheer at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
Ryan dedicated some of his working hours to decorating the cardiac wards with Christmas lights, ornaments, and festive decorations, bringing joy to patients and staff alike during the holiday season.
Ryan’s efforts have transformed Wards 37, 38, and 39 into twinkling havens of holiday magic. From sparkling lights to colourful ornaments, the festive makeover is a welcome sight for patients recovering from cardiac issues and their loved ones, offering them a touch of seasonal joy during what can be a difficult time of year.
“Being in hospital at any time of year is hard for patients and their families, but it feels even more challenging during Christmas,” said Ryan. “Christmas is my favourite time of year, and I always try to help others where I can. Spreading a little holiday cheer is something I couldn’t miss out on.”

Ryan’s dedication didn’t go unnoticed by hospital staff, who were quick to ask for his help after seeing the transformation on Ward 38. “I started with 38 and was soon approached by 39 and then 37,” Ryan shared. “Speaking to both staff and patients brought me so much joy, knowing how much they loved the decorations. Seeing their smiles made me so happy that I was able to bring them even a little bit of joy during this time.”
Despite being the owner of a small independent business offering 24/7 services to his clients, Ryan prioritised giving back to the community this festive season. “My working time is valuable, but I’ll always be happy to take time out to help others, especially at Christmas,” he explained.
Thanks to Ryan’s kindness, patients at Blackpool Victoria Hospital can now enjoy a brighter and more festive environment as they recover. His heartfelt gesture serves as a shining example of how small acts of kindness can have a big impact, reminding us all of the true spirit of Christmas.
