A major new art installation is set to transform Preston’s high street.
More than 300 colourful flowers, butterflies and foliage displays will be installed above Fishergate as part of the “Canopy of Colour”.
Spanning almost 700 metres, the display will stretch along the street, creating a vibrant overhead feature for shoppers and visitors.
The project is being led by Preston Business Improvement District and funded by local businesses.
Organisers say the installation is inspired by similar displays seen across Europe and could be one of the largest of its kind in the UK.
The decorations will also be illuminated at night, adding to the atmosphere in the city centre.
Sustainability is a key focus, with materials designed to be recyclable and reusable.
Preston City Council has backed the project, saying it will bring more life and energy to the area.
Installation is due to begin in the week starting April 20, with an official opening planned for April 30.
The display is expected to remain in place throughout the summer months.
