Lancashire Police say training more officers to drive on the county’s motorways has helped cut the number of people killed or seriously injured on the roads to its lowest level in years.
Inspector Steve Scott says motorway capability has risen by a quarter in 18 months — and greater visibility is reducing serious collisions.
He also says most killed or seriously injured crashes still happen on 30-mile-an-hour roads, not motorways.
