Lancashire residents have been warned about a scam where fraudulent messages are sent about unpaid parking charges.
Lancashire Highways has advised people to be on their guard after reports of scam text messages claiming to be from RingGo Parking.
"RingGo would never contact customers by SMS requesting payment for an unpaid parking charge or penalty charge notice," said a Lancashire Highways spokesperson.
If you receive a message of this nature:
"• Do not click any links
"• Do not reply to the message
"• Do not provide payment or personal information
"• Delete the message and report it as spam
"If you are unsure whether a message is genuine, only use RingGo's official app or website, or contact Lancashire County Council directly through official channels.
"These messages are designed to obtain personal and financial information and should be treated as fraudulent."
