A man has been charged with murder following a fatal collision in Accrington.
Matthew Weller, aged 44, died after being struck by a Volkswagen Passat at the junction of Blackburn Road and Birch Street on April 22.
Emergency services were called shortly after 10pm, but he later died in hospital.
Police say the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and was later found abandoned.
Muhammad Haarith, 22, of Exchange Street, Accrington, has now been charged with murder following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.
He has been remanded in custody and was due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Four other men who were arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail as enquiries continue.
Police say the victim’s family are being supported by specially trained officers.
