The M6 northbound near Leyland reopened yesterday after a police investigation into a death on the motorway.
Officers were called in the early hours of Saturday after a pedestrian was struck by several vehicles between junctions 21 and 21A near Warrington.
Cheshire Police said the person died at the scene.
Lancashire Police and Cumbria Police assisted with enquiries, and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
