A person has been rescued from the sea off Blackpool, around 250 metres from shore, in what the RNLI called its most serious call-out this week.
Crews responded just after 5:30am yesterday near the Viking Hotel.
The casualty received immediate care before being passed to ambulance crews.
A second lifeboat was launched after reports of another person in the water, but that turned out to be a false alarm.
