Police hunt for man who absconded from secure unit during Preston visit

Police are hunting for a man who absconded from a secure unit during a visit to Preston.

They have released new CCTV stills of missing man Shaun Paul Smith, after he absconded during a visit to Preston from a secure unit on Thursday (April 25).

60-year-old Smith, who also goes by the name Aemon Martin, was last seen near the toilets on the ground floor of the Fishergate shopping centre in Preston at about 1pm.

He is white, grey hair, slim build, beard and moustache.

He was last seen wearing a hat, cream jeans, grey/red t-shirt, grey cardigan, black coat, black trainers and a backpack. Carrying a large TK Maxx bag, as show in the CCTV stills.

Smith has links to East Lancashire, including Rossendale and Blackburn, as well as Preston and Bamber Bridge.

If you see him, please do not approach him but call 999 quoting log 0689 of April 25th

Also contact police if you have any information about where he could be.
