A teenage girl has been discharged from hospital after being attacked in Brierfield.
The 17-year-old was injured while walking along Wood Street at around 3pm on Friday.
Lancashire Police says her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police say there are no further outstanding suspects and a dedicated team of detectives is leading the investigation.
