An award-winning pet bereavement business has submitted plans to open a new pet crematorium and company headquarters at a unit on a new industrial estate in Burnley.
Beloved Pets Limited wants to move into Unit 14 at Advance Point on Rossendale Road, bringing its administrative offices and cremation operations together under one roof.
The company says the move would allow it to consolidate activities currently split between Burnley and premises near Sawley.
The planning application seeks permission for a pet cremation facility, office accommodation, two roof flues and an external fuel tank at the 2,490sqft unit on the Advance Point business park.
According to planning documents, Beloved Pets currently operates its headquarters from Burnley Bridge Business Park but carries out cremations at separate premises because its current landlord will not permit the specialist flue system needed for the equipment.
The company says the proposal would reduce journeys between the two sites and support future growth while retaining the business in Burnley.
It describes itself as one of the North West’s leading providers of home pet euthanasia, individual pet cremation and memorial services and says it has received more than 1,000 five-star reviews and won a Lancashire Red Rose Award.
Planning consultants acting for the firm say there is currently no dedicated pet crematorium serving Burnley, Pendle, Hyndburn, Rossendale or Ribble Valley, with the nearest comparable facility understood to be in Leyland.
The application proposes two animal cremators, although only one would be installed initially, with a second planned within 12 months as the business expands.
The cremators would operate using a secondary combustion chamber running at temperatures of at least 850C to minimise emissions and odours.
An environmental assessment submitted with the application concludes the facility is unlikely to cause significant odour or emissions impacts on nearby residents.
The report says the nearest home is around 151 metres from the site and modelling showed pollutant levels remaining below recognised air quality standards.
Advance Point itself was granted planning permission in 2023 and has since been developed as a 22-unit employment park adjacent to the Rossendale Road Industrial Estate.
The business park was completed and made available for occupation in 2025, with developer Barnfield announcing all units were ready for immediate occupancy in September.
A decision on the planning application will be made by Burnley Council at a later date.
