Lancashire County Council offers congratulations and support on A-level results day

Lancashire County Council has hailed "fabulous results" in today's A-levels and offered support for students thinking of their next move.

Although the full picture is still due to be confirmed, initial reports show full pass rates in a range of subjects and fabulous results across post-16 education and training providers, including colleges and school sixth forms, said the county council on Thursday morning.

County Councillor Matthew Salter, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for Education and Skills, congratulated all students who are receiving their A-level, BTEC and T Level results today, for their "dedication, hard work and perseverance".

"We are incredibly proud of your accomplishments and are excited to see the opportunities that your talents, skills, and passions will lead to," said County Councillor Salter.

"Whether you choose to further your education, enter the professional world, or explore other paths, I wish you every success as you begin this new chapter in your adult lives.

"I would also like to say a huge thank you to all the education staff who have supported our young people through their study programmes.

"However, if you didn't get the grades you wanted, please do not think all is lost as you do have options and there is help available.

"Our Talkzone advisors are at hand, to talk confidentially about anything from results, to feeling low, relationships, finding work or training."

Young people planning to continue their studies should contact their higher education provider they had planned to attend and discuss the options available to them.

However, any young people whose results are not as they'd hoped for can contact Lancashire County Council's Talkzone or the Youth Futures Team.

Talkzone is a specialist support service which has trained advisers who can talk to students, in confidence, about their exam results and anything else that might be concerning them. Talkzone can be accessed by telephone, email, text and webtalk. It is available from 2pm to 10pm every day, including weekends and Bank Holidays, and young people can call Talkzone on 0800 511 111, text on 07786 511 111 or email talkzone@lancashire.gov.uk.

Meanwhile, advisory service Youth Futures can be contacted by telephone, email or self-referral through their online form. They are also hosting a series of in person and online events throughout August to support young people with their next steps.
