Adlington carnival raises £1,200 for Inspire Youth Zone

Community spirit shines as annual parade boosts local youth charity

More than £1,200 has been raised for Inspire Youth Zone following this year's Adlington Carnival, with organisers praising the generosity of residents, volunteers and local businesses while already looking ahead to an even bigger event in 2027.

Adlington Community Events (ACE), the volunteer group behind the annual carnival, has confirmed that donations collected during this month's Carnival Parade totalled £1,051.91. The organisation has pledged to top up the amount to £1,200, with every penny being donated to Inspire Youth Zone's Adlington Branch.

The announcement marks another successful year for one of Adlington's best-loved community traditions. For generations, Adlington Carnival has brought together residents of all ages, with colourful parade entries, community groups, local organisations and families lining the streets in celebration. The event has become synonymous with the town itself, creating lasting memories while raising thousands of pounds for worthwhile local causes over the years.

This year's carnival once again demonstrated the remarkable community spirit that exists across Adlington. Hundreds of people turned out to enjoy the festivities, despite the unpredictable British weather, while dozens of volunteers worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event ran smoothly and safely.

For the past several years, Central Radio has proudly supported Adlington Carnival through live outside broadcasts, promotional coverage and on-the-day entertainment, helping to showcase the event to listeners across Lancashire while encouraging even more people to take part in one of the area's most cherished community celebrations.

The money raised this year will benefit Inspire Youth Zone's Adlington Branch, helping the charity continue its valuable work supporting young people. Inspire Youth Zone provides a safe, welcoming environment where children and teenagers can access positive activities, youth clubs, mentoring, sports, creative programmes and wellbeing support, giving young people opportunities to develop confidence, skills and friendships within their local community.

Organisers have paid tribute to everyone who contributed to this year's success, including parade participants, spectators, local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, marshals and the dedicated organising committee whose months of planning made the carnival possible.

A spokesperson for Adlington Community Events said the generosity shown by the community once again highlighted what makes the town so special.

"Every year we're overwhelmed by the support we receive. Whether it's people giving up their time to volunteer, businesses providing sponsorship, or families coming along to enjoy the day and make a donation, it all helps us continue supporting good causes within our community."

Although this year's carnival has only just concluded, preparations are already beginning for the 2027 Adlington Carnival, with organisers keen to build on this year's success. While a date has yet to be confirmed, the committee is inviting local businesses, organisations and individuals to come forward if they would like to sponsor, volunteer or support next year's event.

Adlington Community Events is also interested in working more closely with local charities, community groups and voluntary organisations to explore new ideas, develop partnerships and ensure the carnival continues to reflect the very best of Adlington for many years to come.
