A man has appeared in court following a rooftop standoff with police in Chorley over the Bank Holiday weekend.
At 9.16am on Sunday emergency services were called to Bolton Road following reports a man had climbed onto the roof of a property and was refusing to come down.
Police, ambulance and fire crews attended the scene and the man began throwing objects from the roof and setting small fires.
A small number of properties were evacuated for safety while they dealt with the incident.
At 4pm a man was arrested.
Christopher Jones, 41, of Daisy Hill Drive, Adlington has been charged with Assault by beating, Intentional strangulation, Threats to kill. Arson with intent to endanger life. Assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm, Assault by beating of an emergency worker, Assault by beating of an emergency worker, Criminal damage to property - value under £5000, Criminal damage to property - value under £5000 and Intentionally / recklessly cause a public nuisance.
He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance next month.
