Electric Preston: City hosts free electric vehicle showcase

Residents, businesses and anyone interested in making the switch to electric vehicles are invited to attend Electric Preston, a free electric vehicle showcase.

The event will be taking place on the city's Flag Market on Saturday 22 August from 10am until 3pm.

Whether you're curious about electric vehicles, considering your next car purchase, or simply want to learn more about greener transport options, Electric Preston will provide practical advice, expert guidance and the opportunity to explore a wide range of vehicles up close.

The event will feature a range of local automotive businesses, including dealerships such as Chorley Group Go EV, Just Motor Group, Bowker Chery, and CarSupermarket.com. Also joining the event will be the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, where attendees can find out about the latest regional sustainability initiatives and get independent expert guidance on switching to electric driving.

Visitors can expect to see a variety of electric vehicles from manufacturers including Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, MG, Chery and more, providing an opportunity to compare models and learn about the latest advances in electric vehicle technology.

Alongside the newest models, visitors will also be able to find out more about the growing market for used electric vehicles and how they can provide an affordable route into EV ownership. EV Experts will be on hand throughout the day to help bust common myths around electric vehicles, including questions about battery life, charging infrastructure, vehicle range and long-term running costs.

Throughout the day, local organisations will also be offering advice and information on energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities.

Community Energy Preston will be attending to showcase its work developing locally owned renewable energy projects in the city. Learn more about plans to install solar panels at Preston College and discover how to get involved in supporting community-owned clean energy generation.

Councillor Suleman Sarwar, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, said: ‘’We're delighted to be bringing Preston's first electric vehicle showcase to the city centre. Whether you're interested in cutting costs, cleaner travel or simply learning more,

‘’Electric Preston is a great opportunity to explore the latest EVs and how they could fit into everyday life. This is about bringing practical climate action into the heart of our city, giving residents the opportunity to see the latest technology for themselves, ask questions and make informed choices.

‘’From family cars to business vehicles, there will be a wide range of models on display, alongside experts who can answer questions about charging, battery life and running costs."
