We were called at 1.15pm on Thursday (Feb 5th) to student accommodation on Victoria Street, Preston, to a report of a sudden death.
Officers attended and very sadly the body of 19-year-old Carla, a second-year student, was found inside the address.
An investigation was launched by the Force Major Investigation Team and on Friday evening (Feb 6th) we arrested a man from Hartlepool on suspicion of murder.
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service Nathan Owens, 34, of Hopps Street, Hartlepool was last night charged with Carla’s murder.
He has been remanded in custody to appear before Preston Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, February 10th).
