A man has been jailed after losing control of his car and crashing through a central reservation during a high speed police chase in Preston.
Bryan Wrigglesworth made off from officers down the A59 before eventually crashing.
On 27th April 2025, Armed Response officers spotted Wriggleworth’s car on Strand Road in Preston, where they signalled for him to stop.
He failed to do so, and a pursuit ensued. Wrigglesworth travelled six miles on busy, arterial routes, at speeds reaching 110mph before losing control of the vehicle, crashing through the central reservation into the opposite carriageway.
He provided a positive roadside drug wipe for cocaine at the scene, and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving, driving with no license and driving with no insurance.
He was later charged, and Wrigglesworth, 51 of The Apiary, Bretherton, appeared at Preston court where he was convicted of dangerous driving. He was jailed for 12 months and received a driving ban for three years and four months. He will have to take an extended re-test before he can gain his license back.
Inspector Marc Rigby, of the Spec Ops team said: “Wrigglesworth’s standard of driving was downright dangerous, and wholly unacceptable. He could have very easily have caused some significant injuries had he collided with another vehicle.
“We will continue to clamp down on those committing crimes on our roads and bring them to justice.”
