Officers from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing and Prosper Partnership Team have carried out a multi-agency operation to tackle illegal and abandoned vehicles.
Working alongside Preston City Council and the DVLA, the teams identified problematic vehicles across multiple streets in Preston including Miller Road, Fletcher Road, Kent Street and Great George Street.
As part of the operation, which aims to remove untaxed, abandoned and unroadworthy vehicles from the streets, 19 vehicles were seized and removed from the area, freeing up valuable space and removing any associated anti-social behaviour.
PC Musa from the Prosper Partnership Team said: “Local residents in this area regularly tell us that abandoned vehicles are a top issue of theirs. We are listening and working with partner agencies to tackle those issues.
“Untaxed and abandoned vehicles not only create an eyesore for residents and those working in the area, but they can also pose safety risks so we will continue to work alongside our partners to make sure that we are addressing these concerns.
“We encourage everyone to report issues by signing up to Lancashire Talking and In The Know.”
