Appeal following aggravated burglary and wounding in Blackpool

Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following an aggravated burglary and a wounding in Blackpool.

At 6.25pm on Tuesday (12th March 2024) they were called to a property in Annan Crescent following a report that two masked men wearing all black had forced their way into a property. One of the men was armed with a knife.

The occupant – a woman in her 50s – suffered a slash injury to the hand. That injury is not life-threatening.

A member of the public attempted to stop the suspects from escaping and ended up hanging out of the getaway vehicle – believed to be an SUV-type vehicle – before falling into a parked vehicle.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The first suspect is described as being 5ft 3ins and of a wide build. The second is described as being 5ft 10 and slim.

As part of ongoing enquiries, a 47-year-old woman from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She has since been released on conditional bail.

Work is ongoing to identify and arrest the two male suspects.

That is why they are asking for any witnesses or anyone with mobile phone, dashcam or CCTV footage which covers Annan Crescent and surrounding areas and has captured anything suspicious between 6pm and 7pm on Tuesday to make contact with us.

Temp/DS Wayne Marshall, of Blackpool CID, said: “These acts of violence could have easily resulted in somebody losing their life. We are taking this matter extremely seriously and have a dedicated team of officers assigned to this case.

“While I know resident in the area will be concerned about what has happened, I want to reassure them that this incident is being treated as targeted and isolated. We have increased reassurance patrols in the area as a precaution.”

Anyone with information or footage is asked to email 3534@lancashire.police.uk or call 101, quoting log 1184 of 12th March 2024.
