£35,000 raised in 'Bubble Rush'

The bubbliest event in the North West returned to Blackpool on Saturday, bringing a sea of smiles and foamy fun to Lawson’s Showground.

More than a thousand people took part in Blackpool Bubble Rush, running, walking and even dancing through coloured bubble stations along a 5k route and raising an incredible £35,000 for Brian House Children’s Hospice.

The event kicked off the hospice’s events season, and Events Fundraiser Danny Hickes said it was the perfect way to start it.

He added: “It was great to see so many families joining us for our super fun, super bubbly first event of the year.

“Bubble Rush has always been a family favourite, and we’re proud to deliver the only Bubble Rush for the North West, raising vital funds for our dedicated children’s hospice.

“It was wonderful to see everyone heading though the coloured bubble stations and watching them cross the finish line head to toe in coloured foam.”

With the event sponsored by The Kentown Wizard Foundation, the money raised through entry fees and participant sponsorship goes straight to providing outstanding hospice care for life-limited children on the Fylde coast.

Head of Fundraising, Linzi Warburton said: “We are so grateful to every single person who took part in our first event of the year, and who has kindly raised sponsorship to help us be there for our area’s most fragile children.

“With such a wonderful amount raised, we can provide our outstanding care and support to children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions in our area. With so little support from the government, we really do rely on the generosity of our community. That’s why people taking part in our events like Blackpool Bubble Rush and raising as much as they can in sponsorship truly mean so much to us.

“It is only thanks to them that we can provide our dedicated care free of charge to the children and young people who need us, helping to create full lives, however short.

“A very big thank you also to our friends at The Kentown Wizard Foundation for once again sponsoring Blackpool Bubble Rush, helping us to raise even more for our expert care, and to our wonderful volunteers who donated their time to help us on the day.”
