Appeal after house set on fire in Blackpool

Police are appealing for information after a house was set on fire in Blackpool.

They were called in the early hours of Sunday (April 16) following the arson at an address in Harcourt Road in the resort.

Fortunately, the occupant woke up to the smell of burning and put out the fire which was caused by someone pushing lit paper through the letterbox.

An investigation is underway to identify the offenders and we are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, dashcam or Ring doorbell footage to get in touch.

It’s believed the incident happened at around 2am.

Det Con Wayne Marshall, of Blackpool CID, said: “This incident could so easily have resulted in tragedy, and we are treating it extremely seriously.

“I would urge anyone who has any information or footage which could help us identify those responsible to get in touch.”

Anyone who can help should call us on 101 quoting log 0171 of April 16.

Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
