Blackpool drug-driver arrested after erratic driving on M6

A man from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after being seen driving erratically on the M6.

Police were initially called at around 3.30pm on Tuesday to reports of a car swerving across the M6 northbound, close to junction 33.

It was reported that the car had skidded onto a grass verge at 70mph, before leaving the motorway and then driving erratically down the A6.

Officers made to the scene and pulled the vehicle over in Great Eccelston.

The driver tested positive for cocaine.

A 51-year-old man from Blackpool was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug-driving.

It was discovered he had been arrested just hours after being released from custody by police colleagues over the border in Merseyside, on suspicion of a similar offence.
