Central Radio to host Chorley Christmas Lights Switch On

    Central Radio is delighted to announce we’re hosting the 2023 Chorley Christmas Light Switch On this weekend! (November 19).

    The celebration, in Market Street is on Sunday November 19, and will be hosted by UK commercial radio multi award-winning presenter, Danny Matthews, who hosts Central Radio North West’s flagship breakfast show, weekdays between 6 and 10am.

    As well as waking up Lancashire every morning, Danny is a vastly experienced events host, with the switch on promising to bring a party atmosphere in the town centre, with a host of exciting performances and special guests throughout the afternoon.

    In addition, the Totally Locally Chorley Christmas Market will return for another year, with over 50 different independent traders and stalls, four free craft stations, free facepainting, party games and ‘Buddy’ this Chorley Elf will be causing mischief! 

    Special guest, Challenge Cup winning, Leigh Leopards Rugby league star Josh Charnley will be doing the honours of turning the lights on, plus there'll be a meet and greet with Josh with the Challenge Cup at the covered market.

    The Central Radio North West hosted stage performances get underway at 1pm, with the Big Switch On at 5pm.

    The fantastic line-up of entertainment on the Market Street stage includes renowned Robbie Williams tribute Dean Bretton (as seen on Britain's got Talent), SambaFriq, Just Giorge, Inspire Youth Zone, and Danny Bretherton & Will Edgar (from The Voice Kids).

    Speaking about the Chorley Switch On, Danny Matthews said: ‘’I’m really excited to be asked to be part of such a fantastic event.

    ‘’Lancashire is a patch I know very well, and I hope listeners will join me through the afternoon, where we’ll hopefully have lots of fun along the way.

    ‘’Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year and we can’t wait for the event!’’
