Crews remain on scene after major blaze at derelict Blackpool hotel

Fire crews remain at the scene of a major blaze at a derelict Blackpool hotel.

Emergency services were called to the former New Hackett’s on Queen’s Promenade just after 2:45pm yesterday afternoon (Monday April 24).

Twelve fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms, one stinger and the drone team were in attendance at the four storey derelict building.

Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus and used four jets to bring the fire under control.

Several road closures are in place – Queen’s Promenade (in both directions), Gynn Avenue (in both directions), and Dickson Road (North bound). Trams have also been stopped and aren’t running between Talbot Square and Bispham, due to the risk of building collapse.

Fire crews will remain on scene over the course of today and probably into tomorrow morning.

People are asked to continue to avoid the area where possible.
