Preston Caribbean Carnival Golden Jubilee secures funding

Preston Caribbean Carnival has been granted funding for the 2024 event, taking place in May on its 50th anniversary.

Sunday, May 26 will see the 50th Caribbean Carnival in Preston and so the organisers are planning bigger and better than before including a vibrant, colourful procession through the city centre. Participants will wear large costume pieces from the last 50 years and will dance, drum and whine their way along the route.

Work has begun immediately to recreate large piece iconic carnival costumes from our 50 year history along with small pieces for all participants, anticipated to be in the region of 500 performers this year.

Celebrating the flamboyant, creative Caribbean culture within our city, it is a great day out for all the family and the procession is followed by a Caribbean themed family fun day on Moor Park.

The park includes live performances throughout the afternoon, sound systems, Caribbean and international food stalls, bar facility and lots of children’s activities, including facepainting, creative making sessions, footie activity, rides and inflatables.

This Preston Caribbean Carnival is the biggest party Preston will see in 2024 and expects over 25,000 visitors to join in the fun. It is anticipated that the event will attract visitors from across Lancashire and beyond and is a valuable addition to the Preston events calendar.

The weekend of festivities starts with the ‘One Park Event’ on Saturday 25 May 2024 with live stage performances from 12noon until 9pm with headliner The Twinkle Bros and well known sound systems in the park creating a mellow chilled out afternoon with food and drink Saturday is a ticket only event with tickets available on Skiddle.com

On carnival day, organisers ask that the public (anyone 12 years old and above, under 12s are free) make a donation of £2 to help cover health and safety costs. Due to the nature of the event, we request that only service dogs are allowed in the park arena and no alcohol allowed through the entrance.
