Runners prepare for Chorley 10k this weekend

It’s the Chorley 10k this weekend.

With around 1500 competitors at last year’s event and even more spectators visiting the town centre, this popular annual event, organised by Chorley Council supported by Fylde Coast Runners, welcomes runner of all abilities.

Starting and finishing in Chorley town centre, with the route taking runners through the beautiful Astley Park, the Chorley 10K is a chip-timed, marshalled race with entrants receiving a unique medal and a locally sourced Chorley Cake at the finish line.

Whether you’re running or cheering, here’s everything you need to know about the Chorley 10K and 2K Family Run:

    • Organised by Chorley Council with the support of Fylde Coast Runners, the event will take place on Sunday 5 May 2024 from 9.30am in Chorley town centre.
    • The 2K Family Run will start at 9.30am followed by the Chorley 10K at 10.30am.
Both races start and finish on Market Street and will be started by the Mayor of Chorley, Councillor Tommy Gray.
    • Competitors will receive a well-deserved unique medal at the finish line, which also gives them access to some medal holder perks from local businesses – see checkoutchorley.com/medalholderperks for further information.
    • Fazakerley Street will become a hive of activity as the event’s run village, full of organisations offering information and activities, including face painting (fee applies). Visit checkoutchorley.com/chorley10K to see which organisations will be at the run village. Plus, there’ll be live music to enjoy at 1498 at the Markets between 10:15am – 3:00pm.
