Blackpool Council is urging eligible residents to get protected this winter, with free flu vaccinations available, for those eligible, at walk-in clinics across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.
The no-appointment-needed mobile vaccination service is a collaborative initiative between the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, Blackpool Council’s Public Health team and healthcare provider FCMS, offering convenient access to vaccinations in local neighbourhoods and community hubs.
Fully qualified NHS vaccinators deliver the jabs at both mobile and static sites.
Flu is a highly contagious virus that can cause serious illness. Our mobile clinics are open and available for anyone over 18 who are most at risk of becoming seriously ill from flu, including:
- Adults aged 65 and over
- People with certain long-term health conditions
- Pregnant women
- Frontline health and social care workers
- Those in long-stay residential care homes
- Carers and those living with someone who has a weakened immune system
Residents can simply pop-in to a walk-in clinic without booking an appointment. For those who prefer to book, appointments can be made via some GP surgeries, online or by calling 119.
The mobile clinics will also offer COVID-19 vaccinations for those who are eligible and wish to receive them at the same time. This can help maximise protection against both viruses before the colder months set in.
The COVID-19 vaccination eligibility has been updated, and currently includes:
- Those aged 75 or over (including those who will be 75 by 31 January 2026)
- Those aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment
- Those who live in a care home for older adults
Dr Arif Rajpura, Director of Public Health for Blackpool Council, said: “Flu can be serious, and we know that both flu and COVID-19 can spread quickly during the winter months. Vaccinations remain our best defence to keep people well, reduce hospital admissions and protect NHS services.
“Our mobile and walk-in vaccination clinics make it simple and convenient for residents to get protected close to home. I encourage everyone who is eligible to have their flu vaccine, and to take up the offer of a COVID-19 vaccination at the same time if they can.
“Our friendly team is always happy to talk and answer any questions if you are feeling unsure. There is no pressure and no judgement - just an opportunity for an informal conversation if you need it.”

Residents are recommended to check venue details before travelling, as schedules may be subject to change on occasion.
Individuals who would like to receive a flu vaccination but do not meet the eligibility criteria for a free vaccine can visit a local pharmacy. Please note that this is a paid service, and costs may vary depending on the provider.
