Wyre Council has announced the successful completion of the revitalisation of the Young People’s Place on Windsor Road, Garstang.
The £124,309 capital investment has transformed the site into a vibrant, inclusive space for residents to enjoy sport, recreation, and community connection.
The upgraded facility now features a state-of-the-art skate park, a fully resurfaced multi-use games area (MUGA), and an improved youth shelter.
Equipped with quarter pipes, half pipes, high jumps, driveway box, hump ramps, grind bench, and rails—designed for all skill levels and ages.
The MUGA has been resurfaced with new line markings and fitted with football goals, a basketball hoop, and a cricket wicket and upgrades have been made to the Youth Shelter and fencing to improve safety.
The project was guided by a public consultation held in January 2025, where 71% of respondents requested an improved skatepark and 44% reported regular use. Feedback also called for more youth-focused activities, better site inspections, and stronger community engagement -all of which have been addressed in the final design.Axo Leisure Ltd was appointed to carry out the works following a competitive tendering process. The project was delivered on time and within budget.
Councillor Simon Bridge Street Scene, Parks & Open Spaces Portfolio Holder said: “We are proud to deliver a revitalised facility that reflects the aspirations of our young residents and the wider community.
‘’The upgraded Young People’s Place in Garstang is a testament to Wyre Council’s commitment to investing in inclusive, sustainable spaces that promote active lifestyles, social connection, and wellbeing.
‘’I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the consultation process and helped shape a project that will benefit generations to come.”
