The speed limit along every road on a Chorley housing estate is set to be cut.
The current 30mph maximum across the development, off the A49 Wigan Road in Clayton-le-Woods, is to be reduced to 20mph in a bid to make the routes safer.
The change will affect a total of 20 roads, centred around Wychwood Grove.
Highways bosses at Lancashire County Council are currently carrying out a public consultation before implementing the plan.
In a report outline the reasons for the reduction, the authority says it is to “improve the safety of motorised and non-motorised [road] users, mitigating against additional traffic flows and pedestrian movements from [the] new housing development”.
The sprawling estate has been built over the course of more than a decade, with constructors including Taylor Wimpey, David Wilson Homes and
Lovell Homes responsible for different parts of the plot. The county council says the costs associated with the speed limit cut will be developer funded.
The affected roads are:
- Arden Drive
- Bedgebury Close
- Burnham Close
- Cannock Crescent
- Charnwood Mews
- Dallington Avenue
- Darwin Drive
- Etford Close
- Gisburn Court
- Hatfield Drive
