Preston Caribbean Carnival has been awarded a significant grant from Arts Council England to support the delivery of its 2026 programme.
This funding marks a major milestone for the organisation, ensuring the continued growth, cultural impact, and community reach of one of the North West’s most vibrant and inclusive cultural events.
The grant will enable the 52nd Preston Caribbean Carnival to expand its artistic programme, enhance community engagement initiatives, and deliver an even more dynamic and immersive carnival experience, over the weekend of Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May.
The funding will support a wide range of activities, including live performances, costume design workshops, youth engagement projects, and collaborations with local and international artists.
Founded to celebrate Caribbean heritage, creativity, and community spirit, Preston Caribbean Carnival has become a cornerstone event in the city’s cultural calendar. The 2026 edition promises to build on this legacy, showcasing the richness of Caribbean culture through music, dance, food, and visual arts, while fostering unity and pride across diverse communities.
“This funding from Arts Council England is a transformative moment for us,” said Tracey Harris, Chair of Preston Caribbean Carnival.
“It allows us not only to sustain the carnival but to elevate it, creating more opportunities for artists, engaging more young people, and delivering a truly unforgettable experience for Preston and beyond.”
The 2026 carnival will feature an expanded parade, live music stages, educational workshops, and community-led projects designed to empower local voices and celebrate cultural diversity.
Further details about Preston Caribbean Carnival 2026, including dates and programme highlights, will be announced in the coming months.
