Fylde Council has awarded £167,650 to AFC Fylde Community Foundation to continue delivering targeted employment and skills support across the borough, a major step in boosting local opportunities and preparing residents for the jobs of tomorrow.
The funding, drawn from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) for 2025/26, will support a range of programmes designed to help young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET), promote apprenticeships, and provide tailored work-readiness support for Fylde residents.
The decision, approved by the Council’s Executive Committee, builds on the Foundation’s proven success in previous years, reaching those furthest from the job market and helping them take meaningful steps into work or further training.
Councillor Karen Buckley, Leader of Fylde Council, said: “This investment is about more than just numbers, it’s about futures. We’re backing a trusted local partner to continue delivering real impact for our residents, businesses and communities. Together, we’re strengthening Fylde’s economy and supporting people to reach their potential.”
Chris Brannigan, Chief Executive Officer of AFC Fylde Community Foundation, added: “We are absolutely delighted to be continuing our valued partnership with Fylde Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This significant investment presents a fantastic opportunity to build on the impactful work we have already delivered across the borough, helping Fylde residents access meaningful employment and develop essential skills.
“With this renewed support, we are excited to extend our reach and deepen our impact, ensuring more individuals are equipped with the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need to succeed. Importantly, this programme also provides a valuable opportunity to support Fylde based businesses with recruitment, staff retention and workforce development.
“Fylde is a community full of potential, and through our continued collaboration with the Council, we can make substantial progress in addressing local economic challenges, championing apprenticeships, and strengthening pathways into sustainable employment.”
This contract is part of Fylde Council’s wider UKSPF investment strategy, which totals £857,692 for 2025/26, aimed at levelling up local communities and boosting economic resilience.
The programme with AFC Fylde Community Foundation will begin in May 2025 and run through to March 2026, offering structured, hands-on support across Fylde’s towns and villages.
