Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after a baby was left with serious injuries following a collision on the Junction 29 slip road off the M6 northbound at Bamber Bridge.
Officers were called to the scene at around 4.25pm on Friday, February 13, after reports that a white Ford Transit van had collided with three stationary vehicles — a HGV and two cars.
A baby, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where she remains at this time.
Police said the driver and passenger of the Ford Transit left the scene following the collision and enquiries are ongoing to locate them. Officers believe both men may also have sustained serious injuries and have expressed concern for their welfare.
Sergeant Ben Elliott, of Lancashire Police’s Roads Policing Unit, said: “A baby has been left seriously injured following this collision and our thoughts remain with her and her loved ones at this time.
“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate two men, the driver and passenger of the white Ford Transit van, and I can reassure you we are doing everything possible to find them.
“We are particularly concerned for them as we believe they sustained serious injuries in the collision, and strongly encourage them to come forward to us.
“I am appealing directly to the public for assistance. If you have dashcam or CCTV footage of the collision, please do get in touch with us.
“We are also aware that there may be people who witnessed the collision that we haven’t yet spoken to. If this is you, or if you know someone who was travelling on that road at the time, please let us know.”
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information or footage that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log 937 of February 13, or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at SCIU@lancashire.police.uk.
