New analysis from Rightmove shows Blackburn is one of the top ten areas in Britain for rising asking prices on typical first-time buyer homes.
The average asking price for a first-time buyer property in Blackburn is now £116,735, up 9 per cent over the past year.
Burnley is also highlighted in the research as one of the least expensive areas outside London for first-time buyers, with an average asking price of £100,734.
Rightmove says affordability is continuing to shape where first-time buyers are looking, with stronger demand in lower-cost northern markets.
The study defined first-time buyer homes as flats and houses with two bedrooms or fewer.
