Prolific burglar jailed after string of break-ins

A prolific burglar who targeted businesses across Blackpool and St Annes town centres has been jailed for four years and six months following a series of break-ins that caused significant damage and financial loss.

Shaun Dagger carried out multiple burglaries between November 2025 and January 2026, forcing entry into several commercial premises during late-night raids. Once inside, he stole high-value electronics and equipment, leaving business owners facing costly repairs and missing stock.

In one particularly brazen incident, Dagger paused during a burglary to make himself a sandwich and a cup of coffee before continuing to search the premises and fleeing with stolen goods.

Officers from the Blackpool Neighbourhood Policing Team worked alongside the Fylde Rural Task Force to identify and locate the offender. Investigators carried out extensive enquiries, reviewing CCTV footage that showed Dagger wearing distinctive clothing while scouting the businesses before later returning to carry out the burglaries.

The evidence gathered led to Dagger being charged with five counts of burglary as well as breaching court bail linked to a previous burglary investigation.

Last month, Dagger appeared before the court where he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison.
