A Blackburn school is seeking prior approval for a large upgrade to one of its buildings, with a bid to slash costs by fixing the roof while the sun is shining.

A road in Accrington that once had a number of office units on it is set to become a largely residential street, after an architecture firm was granted approval to convert its own headquarters.

Large quantities of illicit cigarettes, tobacco and medication were seized during a multi-agency operation in Nelson and Brierfield.
