Colne Market Hall will reopen to the public later this week, marking the completion of a £3.5 million regeneration project in the heart of the town centre.
The ribbon will be cut at 10am on Friday, May 1, by Christiana Buchanan, Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire, before the hall opens.
The venue will launch with four independent food and drink operators - Panko & Sushi, Agora (Greek street food), Boroughs (NYC-style pizza), Naanwich (Indian sandwiches), Wills Wine Bar and Three Peaks Brewery - supporting local businesses and creating around 100 new jobs.
To mark the opening, a free programme of events will run across the Bank Holiday weekend (1-4 May), including live music, choirs, live art, a quiz night and family activities.
Developed by Market Quarter Group in partnership with Pendle Borough Council, Colne Market Hall has been designed to complement the town’s existing traders, introducing a new communal space, independent operators and a year-round events programme to support long-term town centre activity.
Ged Lynch, Head of Food and Beverage at Market Quarter Group, said, “We’re incredibly proud to be opening Colne Market Hall and bringing this landmark regeneration project to life in the heart of the town.
“This is about more than just a new venue - it’s about creating a space that supports independent businesses, drives footfall and plays a role in the wider regeneration of the town centre.
“To mark the opening, we’re hosting a free Bank Holiday weekend of activity, with live music, performances, art and family events - giving people the chance to experience everything the space has to offer from day one. Alongside that, we’ve brought together a strong line-up of independent food and drink operators, creating a destination that works throughout the day and into the evening.
“We’re excited to open the doors and see it become what markets are at their best, places where people come together and where local businesses can thrive.”
Colne Market Hall opens at 10am on Friday 1 May. The opening weekend programme is free and open to all.
