A night under the stars at the Wham Stadium will raise vital funds for local charities next month, as East Lancashire Hospice and Accrington Stanley Community Trust team up for the Stadium Sleep Out.
Taking place on Friday 10 October, the unique fundraiser invites participants to swap their beds for the stands at Accrington Stanley FC, supporting care for people living with life-limiting conditions across the region.
The evening begins at 8pm in Coley’s Bar, where guests will be welcomed by the Accrington Stanley mascot and hear inspiring speeches from both charities and event sponsor Prestige Beds. A themed quiz night follows, with rounds on local history, the Hospice, and the football club itself – complete with prizes including a signed Accrington Stanley football and a pamper voucher from C&E Beauty Retreat.
Participants will also enjoy a traditional pie and peas supper, before bedding down overnight in the stadium. An antique telescope, kindly donated by Lancashire Antiques & Interiors, will offer a chance to stargaze during the night, while quirky artefacts such as an original Accrington milk bottle and a famous NORI brick will add local flavour to proceedings.
The following morning, from 6am, a hot breakfast will be served at The Crown Pub on Whalley Road, rounding off the experience before 7:30am.
Entry to the event costs £30 per adult and £20 for under-18s, which includes supper, breakfast, and branded merchandise for those who pre-register. Supporters are also encouraged to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship, with funds shared between East Lancashire Hospice and Accrington Stanley Community Trust.
Lia Holmes, Events Fundraiser at East Lancashire Hospice, said:
“The Stadium Sleep Out is about more than just spending a night outdoors – it’s a chance for the community to come together, have fun, and support two fantastic local causes. We’re really excited to welcome everyone for what promises to be a memorable evening.”
