The husband of the mother of two who was killed by a falling tree branch in Blackburn’s Witton Park in August has set up a foundation in her memory.
Madia Kauser, 32, died at Witton Park in Blackburn on Monday August 11, while she was out walking with her family.
Now her spouse Wasim Khan has set up the Madia Kauser Foundation to raise money in her memory to help children in England who suffer from poverty.
It will stage a walk up Pendle hill on February 7 to kick-start the fundraising efforts and a GoFundMe page has been created to collect the cash.
The meeting point for the 11am walk will be at the Olive section of Blackburn’s Pleasington Cemetery at 10am.
Mr Khan said: “We are trying to raise funds in her memory to help children in England who suffer from poverty.
“I have set up a charity the Madia Kauser Foundation which will aim to help children across the UK directly.
“We will be walking up Pendle Hill on February 7 and anyone is welcome.
“The reason for this walk is in her memory.
“I want people to understand she was so unselfish.
“The main reason why is I want to try raise money to help kids similar ages to mine who are struggling with hunger or poverty.
“I want to donate all the funds to local families struggling directly in Blackburn on behalf of her.
“She would honestly give her last ten pounds in her pocket if she seen a child struggle.
“That’s what kind of heart she had. So why can’t we all do the same?
“Real help starts in our own local community.”
The GoFundMe page entitled ‘Madia Kauser Charity Walk’ aims to raised at least £1,000.
Mr Khan said: “I’m aware the Health and Safety Executive have still not finished investigating and a inquest should be taking place within the next few months.
“The HSE have told me that Blackburn with Darwen Council are following its notice and have made changes to improve their inspection policy.”
Mrs Kauser lost her life when hit by the falling branch after pushing her daughter out of harm’s way.
In November Blackburn with Darwen Council was served with an ‘improvement notice’ by the HSE and last month approved a new policy on the management of the borough’s trees.
An inquest into Ms Kauser’s death was opened in August.
