Thousands of pounds worth of illicit tobacco products have been seized from two shops in Rossendale.
Officers from Rossendale’s Neighbourhood Policing Team were joined by Trading Standards on Friday 22nd November 2024 to carry out several visits in a joint operation.
During their visits a large quantity of illegal tobacco, cigarettes and vapes totalling £16,000 were discovered and seized. Trading Standards will be taking appropriate enforcement action against the premises.
Sergeant Paul Marsden, from Rossendale Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These products are not only illegal, but they can also pose serious health risks to those purchasing and consuming these goods.
“We will continue to work with our partners to remove these illicit goods from the streets of Rossendale, and we would encourage our communities to report any shops who are breaking the law so we can continue to disrupt the sale of illegal tobacco.”
