Tickets are now on sale for Garstang Walking Festival as it marks two decades of outdoor adventures.
Taking place from May 4-12, the festival is coordinated by a brilliant volunteer group, the Friends of Garstang Walking Festival, and is supported by Wyre Council.
This year there’ll be more than 40 walks for all ages and abilities. It’s the perfect chance to experience the best of springtime and explore Wyre’s beautiful countryside.
This year's Garstang Walking Festival is set to be the grandest yet, marking its 20th anniversary.
Join the celebration at Cherestanc Square on Monday, May 6, from 1-3pm for a festive birthday bash and enjoy live music and family entertainment. The two-mile Coronation Walk, introduced in May 2023, promises fun for the entire family and will be the highlight of the event. Last year, hundreds of participants, led by the lively Ski Band, enjoyed the walk, creating a memorable experience.
To showcase Garstang Walking Festival and help people find out more about walking in the area, Wyre Council is hosting a series of ‘Meet the Festival Team’ sessions at Garstang Library on:
• Thursday 15 February 5-6.30pm
• Thursday 22 February 1-3pm
• Saturday 24 February 10am-12:30pm
• March and April dates to be announced soon
Meet the fantastic walk leaders and volunteers who will be on hand to answer all your questions about the festival, including what’s on and how to book.
Councillor Lynne Bowen, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Health and Community Engagement at Wyre Council, said: “It's truly wonderful to witness the Garstang Walking Festival reaching its 20-year milestone.
‘’My heartfelt appreciation goes to the dedicated efforts of the Friends of Garstang Walking Festival, the volunteers, walk leaders, and the staff who put such a fantastic event together.
Last year marked a significant rise in ticket sales for the Garstang Walking Festival, and we eagerly anticipate even more participants joining this year, relishing the opportunity to explore Wyre's Great Outdoors."
