Organisers of Blackpool Carnival say this year’s event is going to be the “biggest and best” so far.
The carnival is a celebration of Blackpool by the people who live in the resort, involving live music and dance, fun activities like tug of war and beach football, plenty of stalls and much more besides.
A major highlight is the colourful parade which rolls down the promenade from North Pier to South Pier, including fancy dress costumes, bands and classic vehicles.
The very first version of Blackpool Carnival was a major spectacle held back in 1923 and it was revived by volunteers in 2017 to create a free event for local people and the community, backed by a Lottery grant of £10,000.
This year Blackpool Carnival takes place on Sunday July 5, with start and finish times to be confirmed.
Organisers say: “Blackpool Carnival 2026 is going to be the biggest and best of recent times.
“The event is being held along the front with a road way procession along the promenade and a stage, children’s amusements, community, craft and food stalls on the Comedy Carpet.
“We want anybody and everybody locally involved, individually whatever your talent, groups, bands, dance groups, community centres, schools and so on and so on, everybody, working altogether as one showcasing what Blackpool is really all about.
“We have all the enthusiasm, excitement, passion and massive desire to ensure this happens but we can’t do this by ourselves, we need you.
“In fact we need all of you out there with any sort of talent, please get in touch, tell all your friends and contacts and get involved, Keep checking this site for updates, it really is going to be great!”
Organisers liaise closely with Blackpool Council over road closures and land hire arrangements.
