Cheryl Taylor has been named chair of the new Ribbleton Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board, which will manage £20 million of Government regeneration funding over the next decade.
The appointment was announced by Sir Mark Hendrick following a recruitment process overseen by Preston City Council.
Miss Taylor previously served as headteacher at Grange Primary School for 16 years and will continue in her current role as co-headteacher alongside the voluntary position.
The board will include local residents, businesses, faith leaders and community groups, with members expected to help shape decisions on projects including pavements, green spaces and cultural improvements.
Pat Varty said Miss Taylor was “the right person for the job”, while Preston City Council said the funding would help local people shape long-term improvements in the area.
