A car travelling north on the M6, near Garstang, was searched by officers who discovered 25kg of cocaine with a street value of approximately £2.5 million.
At around 11am on Wednesday 20th August 2025 officers from the Police Road Crime Team spotted a grey BMW M3 Competition travelling north on the M6 at excessive speeds.
At some point the driver was reaching speeds of over 100 mph.
The vehicle was stopped on Stubbins Lane, near Garstang, and the driver, Stuart Wilson, was spoken to.
Wilson appeared very nervous and anxious throughout the conversation and asked if he was going to go to jail.
When questioned, Wilson said that there was something in the boot but he wasn’t sure what it was.
The car was searched, following which officers found 25kg of cocaine inside a box in the boot.
Stuart Wilson, 33, of Byresknowe Lane, Motherwell, Lanarkshire was arrested at the scene.
He later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine.
Appearing for sentence at Preston Crown Court, Wilson was jailed for five years.
Sergeant Dave Benson of Lancashire Police’s Specialist Operations Road Crime Team said: “As shown in this case, an important part of our work is identifying those involved in the supply of drugs and ensuring they are brought to justice to help keep our communities safe.
“Drug supply and drug use have a damaging effect on neighbourhoods, bringing disruption, criminal activity and hardship to the people who live there. By targeting those responsible, we aim to reduce this harm and protect our communities from further impact.”
